HARRISBURG ---Two Pennsylvania nursing homes have received the 2015 Silver National Quality Award, the second of three distinct awards that honor facilities that serve as models of excellence in providing high-quality long term care.
“This is a prestigious award, and few long-term care facilities nationwide achieve this honor,” said Stuart Shapiro, M.D., CEO of the Pennsylvania Health Care Association (PHCA). “This is a testament to the hard work of the caregivers and the overall commitment of these homes to ensure quality care remains the core mission of its work. We are so proud to announce these winners in Pennsylvania.”
The award winners in Pennsylvania are:
- Countryside Convalescent Home in Mercer, MERCER County
- Golden LivingCenter, York Terrace in Pottsville, SCHUYLKILL County
Facilities must receive the Bronze Star before they can apply for the Silver Star. As a recipient of the Silver Star Award, these centers and their staff have demonstrated systematic advancements in quality, plans for continual improvement, and sustainable organizational goals. Recipients of the Silver Award may now move forward in developing approaches and achieving performance levels that meet the criteria required for the Gold Star Award.
