PHCA Thanks Speaker Turzai for His Service, Commitment to Pennsylvania's Seniors
January 23, 2020
HARRISBURG – Zach Shamberg, president and CEO of the Pennsylvania Health Care Association (PHCA), today issued the following statement after Pennsylvania Speaker of the House Mike Turzai’s announcement that he will not seek re-election:
“We are grateful for Speaker Turzai’s nearly 20 years of service to Pennsylvania and its seniors.
“Throughout his time in public office, Speaker Turzai has been a champion for our most vulnerable population. He has been a strong advocate for increased funding to support long-term care providers and the more than 50,000 caregivers who provide compassionate, quality care to older Pennsylvanians.
“As House Majority Leader and as Speaker of the House, he led the fight for lawsuit abuse reform to improve Pennsylvania’s legal climate.
“We’re thrilled to know he will continue to serve in his role as Speaker throughout the upcoming state budget process and we look forward to working with him one last time to support Pennsylvania’s nursing homes, assisted living communities and personal care residences.”
