HARRISBURG, PA - Zach Shamberg, president and CEO of the Pennsylvania Health Care Association (PHCA), released the following statement after Governor Tom Wolf signed into law House Bill 2510, directing nearly $300 million in critical funding to help long-term care providers, including nursing homes, assisted living communities and personal care homes, during the COVID-19 pandemic:

"For long-term care providers, their frontline staff and the vulnerable residents they serve, help is officially on the way.

"Earlier today, Governor Tom Wolf signed House Bill 2510 into law, which dedicates nearly $300 million in emergency funding to nursing homes, personal care homes and assisted living communities across the Commonwealth.

"This united, bipartisan effort by members of the General Assembly, legislative leaders and Governor Wolf sends a strong message of support to those on the front lines of the COVID-19 epidemic.

"This funding will enable providers to dedicate Hero Pay and higher wages to frontline staff, obtain personal protective equipment and testing supplies, and care for the residents in their facilities.

"On behalf of Pennsylvania’s nursing homes, personal care homes and assisted living communities, we thank the General Assembly and Governor Wolf for their strong support. And we will continue to do all we can to help our healthcare heroes to mitigate and contain the spread of COVID-19 and protect our most vulnerable residents."
