HARRISBURG --- The Brunswick at Attleboro, a personal care home in Bucks County, Pennsylvania, has received the 2019 Silver AHCA/NCAL National Quality Award for steadfast commitment to high quality care.

Silver award winners demonstrate a commitment to developing effective approaches that help improve performance and health care outcomes as they work with residents, families and caregivers to ensure high-quality care and a high quality of life for seniors and persons with disabilities. The criteria for the Silver award, based on the Baldrige Excellence Framework, provides facilities with a thorough assessment of how their organization works, its effectiveness, and tools for improvement in their approaches.

“As long-term care facilities across the Commonwealth are struggling to do more with less, quality care remains their top priority,” said Zach Shamberg, President and CEO of the Pennsylvania Health Care Association (PHCA). “The Brunswick at Attleboro has proven that, even in these trying times, providers and staff can work together and achieve incredible goals. We could not be more proud of our members who have chosen to participate in the American Health Care Association/National Center for Assisted Living’s rigorous quality awards program.”

“The application for the Silver Award was a declaration of our continued commitment to quality and the residents under our care,” said Kathleen Fox, Administrator of The Brunswick at Attleboro. “We set out to discover how to best meet and exceed the needs and expectations of our residents, their families, our employees and the community. This award recognizes the care and dedication of our staff as a vital part of the quality journey.”

“Our resident-first approach means more than just following processes and procedures, it means doing so with consideration, courtesy and respect for each person that we interact with every day,” said Fox. “This path requires every one of our team members to take the journey with us to the next award distinctions. While this will not occur overnight, with hard work and determination we will reach the Gold level and the entire Brunswick family will be better for our efforts. ”

Implemented by AHCA/NCAL in 1996, the National Quality Award Program is centered on the core values and criteria of the Baldrige Performance Excellence Program, which is the foundation of the metric-based AHCA/NCAL Quality Initiative. The program assists providers of long term and post-acute care services in achieving their performance excellence goals.

The award is the second of three distinctions --- Bronze, Silver and Gold --- that the American Health Care Association/National Center for Assisted Living announces each year as part of its National Quality Award Program. Gold Quality Award winners will be announced in August 2019.
